(This is friggin' HUGE .. sorry) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- for round two only those 'bots entered will be sent turn reports unless individuals request a continuation. round reports will still be mass mailed unless a request is sent saying it shouldnt be so. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RoboRally Arena II http://webxxx.schlund.de/cgi-bin/pbeme.pl?game=roborall http://members.tripodnet.nl/Seedling/rrmap.html Competition 1 Round Report 1 Receipients: - All active or fragged 'bots, any other. Contents: - Round event report. - Current 'bots. - Final board. - Overall Statistics - Next round preview. - Notes. * Round event report (all five turns). Competition: 1; Round: 1; Start date: Dec. 16, 2000; 'bots: Droideka - While moving, its head is tucked under its body and it rolls. When in attack mode, its head pops up, lasers fold out and it generates a shield around itself. More than a match for any Jedi... Shmoo - A shmoo-bot is a white bloblish looking bot. It rather resembles a bowling pin. Has a habit of helping out where ever necessary*. (even if you don't WANT help) Pivot - Pretty looking multicoloured bot who is standing on a ball and who is constantly spinning round to keep in equilibrium. clunker - ? NightSwimmer - Do I HAVE to make a description? Funfundfunfzig - Number 55 is alive! Twonky - Gimme some targets to shoot at :) Aluminman - I am a bot made out of a giant soda can. I am the Junk-cola mascot or was until they abandoned the idea. I have a can for a body with tank tracks on either side for movement and four arms(the better to serve cola with). Result: First: clunker Second: Pivot. Turn One: (1) Droideka 3-801 L-040 U-410 1-620 2-680 turn/phase 1/1 card 3-801 position e11s "SO IT BEGINS! ..hsssss*crackle*..." booms out across the floor ... Luckily for droidman the serious crash suffered by toby allowed a few late and rather patchy programs to be deciphered. (3) Pivot U-383 3-813 U-393 R-273 2-783 turn/phase 3/1 card U-383 position e12s (place proximity mine) unfortunately pivot has miscalculated (hopefully) when the mine would go off. Planting mines and goo and the big one and stuff like that happens before 'bot movement then the device becomes active at the start of the resolve laser fire part of the phase. this gives the bots a chance to move off the device before it goes off. or in this case a chance to move far enough away. pivot u-turned on the thing which left it on top of the bomb while the conveyor did its thing and then it went off. BOOM! damage to pivot (4), Al (2), Twonky (2) and shmoo (1). looking at it though, if youre going to make a mistake then making one that results in a lot of damage to other 'bots as well is the best way to go ... so maybe .... pivot then went on to CAP! twonky. 3/2 3-813 f2s FRAG ONE OF ARENA II AWARDED! Pivot nails shmoo right across the board. perhaps THIS is where the previous option use should have been ¡K IM OUTTA HERE says pivot ¡K and twonky went with it ¡K priorities worked against twonky who would have claimed the scalp of shmoo with a higher priority than pivot on their respective move 3's 3/3 U-393 g2n nothing there anymore as the smoke clears notes pivot with a hint of satisfaction .. 3/4 R-273 h2e CAP! Stats: Movement: 30 Damage Done: 3 Damage Received: 4 Final Position: Fifth (2) Shmoo - not much to say for a 'bot with no programming. 'Bots involved are: Tin Can Herbie Blighted Cliffhanger four more entries needed. new entrys will have priority but after monday, february 12, any previously 'bots entered will begin to fill places (see new rule changes below) Expected start: Monday, February 12-19, 2001. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * Notes. ---- >Heya, > >Two remarks: >Clunker has R-220 on flywheel, however Flywheel doesn't hold rotate cards, only movement cards. yes .. i wonder if Toby will realise and invalidate the turn program if the offending card is used ... >Twonky has done 14 points of damage. 13 caps and 1 ram. (rammed Clunker in 3/3) i thought toby got the ramming damage .. i'll make sure ... right you were , 14 p.o.d. it is. actually Toby missed the cap Twonky put into Funfundfunfzig. ---- >Hello Toby, > >what has happened to my bot (Pivot)? Why have I lost contact to >my bot? Didn't you get my e-mail? toby DID get your email .. unfortunately its contents were lost after the dopwnload (which isnt the weirdest thing that could have happened on Toby's OS) the problem is that a correctly subject formatted email was received and only the first one can be considered. in this case there is nothing you could have done but in future if you want confirmation that your program has been received then you can request it be so. regardless there is good chance that pivot will finish first anyway, if its any consolation. sorry about Toby, he is a little twitchy still after a major move to new residence > L-103();1-533();1-583();R-273();2-783() > > () > > (Extra Memory) > > > It was such a good turn... > I never had problems to send my mails about gmx before. > Now I am a puck :-( it WAS a good move .. would have made life a lot more interesting for one 'bot whose name begins with 'T' > > There are 4 places filled for the next round. Entries will > > be accepted from any email address that is not currently > > controlling an 'active' 'bot. > > Since I am out of this game, please let my play in the next > round! If you need a new mail-adress or new bot name, please > mail me. if pivot is fragged then this email address can enter another 'bot. otherwise your email address is jammed with the control preferences for Pivot and cannot be reconfigured to another unless the 'frag' procedure is seen through. you can enter using another email address no problems at all, but beware you may end up controlling two 'bots in the Grand Final .. if you can handle that then go for it. MORE: This issue has brought chages to the rules. READ ON! ---- >I just registered a new bot, but realised that while you are a >"puck" you are still "active"...so can I actually register a >new one yet? changes to the way Toby is dealing with the limitation of 'one active 'bot per email address' problem. these changes are designed to allow owners of unplaced 'puck' 'bots to finish off their 'bots to clear the way for a new one. 'bots that were pucks are eligible for entry into rounds of the same competition on request and subject to availability. puck 'bots that actually made it to the GF round probably wont want to take this option as getting fragged will get them removed from contention and winning again will only remove one opponent from the GF. also the submission format has been simplified somewhat, the old version will probably still be accepted but expect more chance of error. check out the 'rules' website for these, the following and more changes ... http://webxxx.schlund.de/cgi-bin/pbeme.pl?game=roborall TURN REQUIREMENTS. The competition will be updated at the rate of a turn per week. Turn programs are required before Monday, 0900 (GMT) (1700 - Taipei, 2100 - NZST). Any unreceived or invalid programs will result in loss of contact between controller and 'bot and without any instructions the 'bot will remain entirely inactive for the rest of the round. If the 'bot survives the round contact can be re-established for entry into another competition (or even the GF round if it finished first or second in its round) with all damage and options removed. An unprogrammed 'bot can also be entered into another round in the same competition, but it will retain all damage and options. A valid program must contain five correctly prioritised program cards in the following format: X-88## X-88## X-88## X-88## X-88## where 'X' is the movement or rotation of the card (L,R,U,B,1,2 or 3) 88 is the first two digits of the priority number of the card and ## is the entry number of the 'bot (01-80). A program will be invalid under the following circumstances: - The above format is not adhered to. - The cards used in the program are not all cards originally dealt to the 'bot. - It is received after the deadline. **NOTE: Any locked registers will continue to be read even if a 'bot does not receive a program. Programs with option use declared must follow the format: X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) (turn) where (phase) is the option use for each phase and (turn) is the option use for the whole turn. If the option use is invalid it will be ignored. If the format is not followed it may disrupt the turn program and contact with the 'bot could be lost. The choice of option for the end of the round is placed after the turn option programming: X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) (turn) (option) Any other comments, questions or observations can be noted after that: X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) X-88##(phase) (turn) (option) (other) Turn programs are to be submitted by eMail only and the subject should be as follows: Arena II;-- where , and are the numbers that the program is for. That is: Arena II;3-2-1 for the first turn program of the second round of the third competition (GF if grand final round, Arena II;3-GF-1). ---- for round two only those 'bots entered will be sent turn reports unless individuals request a continuation. round reports will still be mass mailed unless a request is sent saying it shouldnt be so. ---- and finally, to quote Tim Burton's 'Batman', "I want you to tell all your friends about me". ----
